Rita Callahan, a master teacher and lifelong educator, has warmed the hearts of students and families from around the globe with her unique and unconventional teaching style. Known for her personable approach and deep connection with learners, Rita has spent over 30 years in the classroom—and continues to educate with passion and purpose.

From an early age, Rita had a natural gift for writing and a deep love for language. She has never put down the pen. Today, she continues to thrive as an expert writer, with an impressive repertoire that spans how-to texts, playwriting, poetry, fiction, tutorial content, children’s stories, educational research, and song lyrics. Her ability to write across genres adds a dynamic and creative edge to her teaching.


Rita also brings her voice to wider educational conversations as a contributing op-ed writer for the Mississippi Free Press, where she shares insights with a splash of realism on today’s education landscape.


She holds both a bachelor’s in journalism and a master’s degree in education from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, and proudly calls the Jackson-metro area home. When she’s not teaching or writing, Rita enjoys time with her close-knit family and friends and continues to find inspiration in everyday moments and lifelong learning.
